Ever wonder why your brand pitch got ignored? You put in the effort, crafted what you thought was the perfect email, and sent it off with high hopes—only to get silence in return.
I get it. It’s frustrating when you know you’d be a great fit for a brand, but your pitch doesn’t get a response.
One of my coaching students recently told me she reached out to a brand she really wanted to work with… and never heard back. When I read her pitch, I immediately knew why:
She made it all about her.
And this? The #1 reason brands ignore pitches.
If you want brands to say yes, you have to shift the focus—here’s how.
Why Most Brand Pitches Get Ignored
When a brand opens your email, they’re not thinking:
✅ “Wow, look at her amazing Instagram feed!”
✅ “Oh, she really wants to work with us—how nice!”
They’re thinking:
❌ “What’s in it for us?”
❌ “Will this move the needle for our goals?”
If your pitch is packed with:
🚫 Your follower count
🚫 How much you love their brand
🚫 What you want from them
You’re making yourself the focus. And that’s an instant delete.
If your brand pitch got ignored, it’s likely because it didn’t align with the brand’s goals. Brands don’t care about you—they care about how you can help them.
How to Make Your Brand Pitch Stand Out (By Making It About Them)
Step 1: Research What the Brand Actually Needs
Before pitching, ask yourself:
- What campaigns are they running right now?
- Who have they partnered with before?
- What’s their biggest priority—brand awareness, conversions, engagement?
The easiest way to find out? Engage with them first. Follow them, comment on their posts, see what they’re promoting. Then, use that insight in your pitch.
💡 Example: If they just launched a new product, don’t pitch a random collab. Pitch how you can help drive visibility for that specific product.
And if you want to build brand relationships before you even send a pitch? Meet them in real life.
I can’t tell you how many brands and companies I’ve cultivated relationships with just by being in the right rooms. At Boss Vision Con, I connected with someone who ultimately helped bring Little Words Project on as a headline sponsor for She Is Going Somewhere in 2024.
Pitching starts long before the email—it starts with real connections.
Step 2: Lead with the Value You Can Provide
The first sentence of your pitch should immediately show how you can help them.
🚫 Bad: “Hi, I’m [Name], and I have 10K followers on Instagram. I love your brand and would love to collaborate.”
✅ Better: “Hi [Brand Name], I saw your recent [campaign/product launch] and have an idea for how we can get more eyes on it in a way that feels organic and engaging to your audience.”
If your brand pitch got ignored, it might be because it was all about you. Brands don’t need more influencers. They need strategic partners who drive impact. Show them why you’re that person.
Step 3: Back It Up With Data & a Clear Call to Action
Once you hook them, prove you can deliver.
✔️ Share relevant past results (e.g., “I created a similar campaign for [Brand] that resulted in a 40% engagement increase”).
✔️ Make it easy for them to say yes with a direct CTA.
🚫 Bad: “Let me know if you’d like to chat!”
✅ Better: “I’d love to collaborate on a [specific campaign idea]. Do you have 10 minutes next week to discuss how we can make this happen?”
The reason why your brand pitch got ignored isn’t that you’re not “big enough.” It’s because the focus wasn’t on what the brand truly needs.
Brand Pitch Makeover: Before & After Example
❌ Original Pitch (Why It Got Ignored)
Subject: Collab Opportunity
Hi [Brand],
I’m [Your Name], and I absolutely love your products! I have [X followers] and would love to partner with you on a collaboration. I think my audience would love your brand, and I’d be so excited to work together. Let me know if this is something you’d be open to!
Thanks,
[Your Name]
What’s wrong? It’s generic, self-focused, and doesn’t show why the brand should care.
✅ Revised Pitch (Why It Works)
Subject: Strategy to Get More Eyes on [Brand’s New Product]
Hi [Brand],
I saw your recent launch of [Product] and loved how you’re positioning it for [target audience]. I’d love to help you amplify its reach through [specific strategy: a unique UGC campaign, a targeted email partnership, etc.].
I recently ran a similar campaign with [Brand] that led to [specific measurable result]. Based on my audience’s engagement with similar content, I believe we can create something that drives real impact for you.
Would you be open to a quick 10-minute chat next week to discuss how we can bring this to life? Let me know what works best for you!
Best,
[Your Name]
